FRUSTRATING ME

I know that he meant well and that he was only trying to help me, but all of his “help” is really only frustrating me.  My uncle was at one point one of the top Atlanta bankruptcy attorneys you could find, but the opportune word in that phrase is was.  He’s been retired for nearly fifteen years now and he hasn’t kept up with the latest practices or all of the changes to the bankruptcy laws.  I knew all of this and I really gave my best effort to keep my financial problems and the fact that I was going to file hidden from him so he didn’t feel obligated to try and help me with the process, but my mother has a very difficult time keeping secrets, so he ended up finding out regardless.  I can’t just tell him to back off and mind his own business because he would be crushed.  It’s just a frustrating situation in that, the advice he’s giving me isn’t proving to be very helpful, if I were filing bankruptcy in 1985 all of his knowledge would have been very valuable, but following his suggestions in this day and age would only hamper my case because he’s still thinking in terms of the law as it was before the changes occurred in 2005.  I guess I’ll just take what ever advice he gives me with a grain of salt and thank him for all the help.
